Water-Activated PVA Film Transforms to Wood Adhesive

A study published in the Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts reports a novel water-triggered adaptive polyvinyl alcohol-polysaccharide (PVA-PS) film that transforms into a wood adhesive. This innovative material is designed to mimic the natural properties of wood, allowing it to bond with wood surfaces in a more efficient and sustainable way. The PVA-PS film is composed of a PVA matrix and a polysaccharide-based additive, which is triggered by water to undergo a phase transition and form a strong adhesive bond with wood.
