Feature: Tanzanian educator bridges cultures through Chinese language and traditional opera

In a lecture room at the University of Dodoma's Confucius Institute in Tanzania, Tausi Iddi Nzimano, known by her Chinese name as Lin Shi, switches seamlessly between Swahili and Mandarin Chinese as she teaches traditional Chinese opera to her students. As one of the few Tanzanian educators specializing in Chinese language and culture, Lin Shi's passion for cultural exchange has taken her on a journey from her hometown in Tanzania to China, where she earned a master's degree in traditional Chinese opera. Now, she is dedicated to sharing her knowledge with her students, who hail from various African countries, and has become a bridge between their cultures. Through her teachings, Lin Shi aims to promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation, not only of the Chinese language but also of the rich cultural heritage that it embodies.
